This is a CAD dwg drawing for Reinforced Concrete Slab Beam Exterior Brick Wall Thermal Insulation Detail. Modern buildings need to be energy efficient as much as possible. One of the methods to achieve this is to insulate the exterior of the building and the exterior walls and frame members to prevent heat loss and eliminate any thermal bridges.

For a standard reinforced concrete frame building with exterior brick walls, both concrete beams, columns and walls need to be layered on the exterior with a thermal protection to close this thermal bridge to the inside. Common method is the use of extruded polystyrene on the outside of the concrete members and thermal bricks of 300mm thickness.

By having a 250mm wide concrete beam and 300mm thermal brickes ( extruding 50mm outside ) creates a gap of 50mm to install the extruded polystyrene thus creating a flush surface for the exterior render to be applied.
