This type of retaining walls configuration is a common practice especially at the plot boundary where with high soil elevation differences to avoid very tall concrete faces. Very useful solution for high soil retaining level difference in order to reduce construction costs of a large tall uneconomical single wall.

Important aspect of this detail is the common footing for both walls. If for any reason the foundation of the two walls cannot be common, the configuration and reinforcement of the two walls must be altered.
